Boulder’s Boutique Cannabis Helps Others Find Their Flow
Amidst the rocky mountains of Boulder, In The Flow is a boutique cannabis cultivation growing premium craft cannabis for their Colorado community.
They’re a small batch, indoor cannabis cultivation living by the mission of being present in the moment – finding your flow. This comes from the impressive adaptability of octopuses and inspiration from the oceanic creature itself.
In a matter of seconds, octopuses change their color, pattern, and even texture to match their surroundings. They’re the ultimate example of remaining inquisitive, playful, and open to the moment at present.
In The Flow grows craft cultivars with genetics, flavor profiles, and effects that help you dial in this flow, or state of bliss. Their entire cultivation process is in-house – from genetic and phenotypic breeding to cultivating, harvesting, curing, and trimming.
Yet what sets them apart from just another craft cannabis shop in Colorado, is their unique mix of legacy with a cutting-edge commercial twist. Their small, inclusive team of 20 is family-based, with roots in Boulder and a strong, experienced history of growing some of the best weed around.
With a prime focus on cultivating craft and care for the culture and plant, this cannabis brand is currently impacting Colorado with its sustainable and craft cannabis products.
Meet Nick Sclafani
As a Colorado cannabis cultivator, Nick Sclafani has been in the game since 2001. After a growing fascination for plant genetics and breeding, he started growing at the state’s turn of legalization and has turned it into a career ever since. Now, he’s a skilled phenohunter – expertly cultivating and staying connected with the plant and its full purpose.
For over the past two years, he’s been the head grower at In The Flow and has mastered a cultivation style that feels natural, minimal, and streamlined. With six harvests every two months, Nick and his team never skip a beat on attention to detail every step of the way. They understand that each plant will have different needs, and continuously work together to bring out the best side of each cultivar. Walking through their indoor facility, you can tell right away the care and detail that goes into each step of their process. Every single plant is hand-watered and neatly defoliated and pruned for a nice uniform look.
Each time the plants get their daily cycle of light, Nick plays a morning soundtrack of birds chirping in the background to “wake them up”for a full day of growing. It’s details like this that not only highlight Nick’s skill and understanding of cannabis cultivation but result in the craft and boutique quality of In The Flow’s flower.
“It’s not just about selling cannabis,” Nick says, “but what is being perpetuated in the culture and the result of what we put out to the community. It’s as homegrown as commercial can be.”
He says it’s this hands-on approach with plants and people that make us a brand. As a result, they not only know how to interact and work with their genetics and strains, but bring out the best of each other individually and as a team.
Commitment to Renewable Resources
Aside from crafted cultivation techniques, some of In The Flow’s best practices come from their sustainable efforts and technology. As a boutique cannabis cultivation, they’ve turned over every leaf to produce a more environmentally responsible package, product, and operation.

Nick and his cultivation team have also crafted a proprietary blend of amendments and nutrients to create the dense, delicious, and dank buds In The Flow smokers know and love.
Award-Winning Cultivars & Flavor Profiles
To Nick, quality cannabis means white ash, full flavor, and a smoke that’s never harsh or bitter. With his dedication toward cannabis phenotypes and cultivation craftsmanship, he continues on the mission to grow quality cannabis strains to help others find their flow.
Their diesel-fueled sativa, Chemmy Jones, was a Connoisseur Cup 2017 Overall Champion and High Times People’s Choice winner in 2022.
Fat Nugs founder Dustin Hoxworth recently had the chance to smoke Chemmy Jones, this Casey Jones x Chemdawg cross, noting “As soon as I broke into the flower the pungent gas notes burned my nose. Kerosene was the first word out of my mouth. If you're trying to fuel your day with a heady high that leaves you questioning if you smoked too much, this is your lady.”
He got to try two other top-selling cultivars from In The Flow – Donny Burger was Dustin’s second favorite, “The combo of fruit and gas reminded me of the complexity that this plant truly presents. The unique flavor and smell was impressive, and it was one of the stickiest buds and cleanest smokes I've had in some time. This lady was impressive and tasty from the first puff to the last and was my 2nd favorite of the group.”
When it came time to puff on In The Flow’s White Wedding, he said it was as if he was smoking a blueberry pie. “It made me happy, smile, and silly. This is the type of high I search for every single day, but it's very rare I find it. I'm a big fan of things that smell like candy.”
