For years, the west coast has been the domestic mecca of cannabis, a shining paradise of legalization in a sea of prohibition. But it’s not 2012 anymore – over half of Americans now live where cannabis is legal, and the biggest wave of legalization reform has been on the East coast in recent years.

Things have changed quickly – the New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Vermont adult-use markets have all come online in the past 12 months. In fact, there’s only one state left in the Northeast that doesn’t have legal cannabis (New Hampshire – what’s up?)

So, when NECANN descended on Boston for 3 days, it was the kind of good time you can only expect in the cannabis industry. The New England Cannabis convention has been hosting an annual conference in Boston since 2014. This was the first time in 9 years that a majority of states in the NE were legal, and people were ready to celebrate.

I spent two days on the show floor, attending sessions, and afterparties, and talking to people. You don’t need to have visited the city to get the highlights - here’s the best of the best.

MASSGRASS, hosted by Orange Photonics, QWIK LIQUIDS, 3 Good Buds, United Cultivation and your very own Fat Nugs Mag.

This Friday night party was hosted in an old tavern in Harvard Square - but there was no alcohol to be found, just more weed than any cannabis lover could dream of smoking in a single night.

Attendees (myself included) were treated to a larger selection of joints than food as well as a selection of mocktails infused with varying levels of QWIK LIQUIDS.

3 Good Buds also hosted a live Sesh with Friends from the party. It was a FOMO-inducing party I’m so glad to have attended - no one throws down like Fat Nugs!

The Best Products

I spent my time on the show floor in search of standout products, things I haven’t seen before that piqued my interest.

Here’s what I found:

“Jungle Drops” from TreeWorks

Most cannabis tinctures have one or two cannabinoids. Jungle Drops have five. Treeworks mixed together CBD, CBC, CBG, CBN, and THC at a 1:1:1:1:1 ratio for powerful results in small doses.

The tincture is vegan and gluten-free and purports to deliver an entourage effect experience better than nearly anything (except high-quality flower, of course). With 1,000 mg in each bottle, a little goes a long way with this tincture.

Available in Massachusetts. Visit treeworksma.com/jungledrops to learn more.

“Cool Cure” by Cannatrol

For years, wine lovers have invested in keeping their prized collections stored properly. No price is too high when it comes to keeping the temperature, humidity, and other elements right. And now, flower lovers have an equitable option.

The Cool Cure by Cannatrol is the wine fridge for cannabis, which is to stay it is the best option for at-home curing, drying, and long-term storage of the plant. It looks like a wine fridge, with a glass insert in the door so you can see the product inside. But the Cool Cure is specifically formulated by Cannatrol to make long-term storage simple, no burping or “broscience tricks” needed. At full capacity, the Cool Cure holds four pounds of bud.

And yeah, it goes without saying a machine of this precision and power is an investment that not every flower lover can make. But it is something this bud lover is aspiring to. Imagine the looks on your friends’ faces when you reach into the fridge to grab weed for your rolling sesh – priceless!

Available in all 50 states. Visit cannatrols.com/cool-cure-box to learn more.
