Get High and Read a Book! At The Cannabis Literary Showcase

The Cannabis Literary Showcase is inspired by the enduring legacy of printed publications in the cannabis movement!
Print has always been an ally to the cannabis community. In the '60s and '70s, while mainstream media largely misrepresented and stigmatized cannabis, independent publications emerged. Printed on cheap paper and distributed through unconventional channels, they bypassed censorship to reach their countercultural audience.
The underground press fueled the legalization movement as hubs for creativity and dissent, championing social change, cannabis acceptance, and decriminalization through articles, poetry, and art while widely disseminating information about cultivation, medicinal properties, and cannabis culture.
Sixty years later, algorithms designed to flag any mention of the plant or its imagery continue the same prohibition-era censorship on social media platforms. Digitally suppressing cannabis content and limiting writers’ and creators’ ability to share their knowledge and stories with the community.
Thanks to the support of CannExpo and the cannabis literary community, we’ve cultivated a library dedicated to elevating cannabis literature and amplifying the voices of remarkable writers shaping the industry in 2024!
The Cannabis Literary Showcase will be featured in the Media and Influencer booth, highlighting independent books, magazines, and even comics that continue the enduring tradition of print, championing and uplifting the cannabis community.
